Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
We decided to jointly host a Pink Ribbon Breakfast event as we are friends and neighbours and we both are passionate about Breast Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Foundation NZ's vital work.
Breast Cancer touches most of us in some way: through a personal experience, through family, and through friends and colleagues. Deb and I have known many women who have been diagnosed.
It touched me (Rosie) personally almost 5 years ago. A routine mammogram showed up a small lump which fortunately was benign and removed within a few weeks. Those few weeks were like a rollercoaster and scary. The treatment and care I received from the consultant and breastcare nurses was amazing, and I still have regular followups and access to support if I need it. The diagnosis rocked my world as I had not thought I had many of the risks. But it turns out that stress and lifestyle is a big risk. It certainly encouraged me to step back and reassess my priorities.
Deb - I'm co-hosting this event with my friend Rosie to show my support and love for all of the brave women in NZ who have, are, or will in the future... battle breast cancer. My partner and I are personally connected to a number of these brave women within our families and friends that have had their own battle with breast cancer. Some of them have won that battle, but devastatingly, others have not. Every dollar raised helps the foundation with their vision of "zero deaths from breast cancer". How amazing it would be to achieve that in the future!
Please, please do support Deb and I to raise at least $1000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. We don’t like asking for money but this is personal. The money raised will be used to fund research projects and medical grants to help improve survivorship, as well as support patients and their families during treatment and recovery.
